World's Best City Parks

Skyscrapers, kilometers of concrete, traffic jams and air pollution. Fortunately, there are places where people can enjoy Mother Nature. We're talking about city parks with plenty of grassy areas to enjoy a picnic, trails for a long walk or an afternoon jog, and often lakes for a romantic boat ride. Many of these parks are also filled with museums and tourist attractions that hold the key to the city's heritage. Here are some of the best parks in the world:
Djurgarden, Stockholm
This city park in Sweden is actually located on its own island. Its name roughly translates to "animal garden" and is so named because it has been a zoo since the 16th century. Once a hunting ground for royalty, today it is home to cycling and hiking trails, museums, gardens and palaces, and is still owned by the Swedish monarchy.
High Line, New York
A new park in New York City, which is still expanding, was never intended to be a park at all. Instead of destroying the ugly roads, the city's residents saved them to turn the streets from Gansevoort Avenue to 30th Street into a park. It is now covered with trees, flower gardens and seating areas.
Phoenix Park, Dublin
One of the largest parks in Europe, the city park in Dublin is home to a zoo and is big enough for horse riding, polo, cricket pitches and even an airfield for model airplanes. The British Army used this land in the 18th century. The old barracks and buildings still stand. Since it became a public park in 1747, the park has enjoyed celebrations and events, including live music and a visit by Pope John Paul II.
