The year 2023, in which we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey with enthusiasm and pride, offers us the opportunity to once again remember and respectfully commemorate the reforms carried out by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk under his determined and decisive leadership with the aim of bringing our nation to the level of contemporary civilizations, the unique legacy he left behind and the sacrifices he made for our country.

The reforms realized under Atatürk's leadership have left deep traces not only in political and legal fields, but also in social and cultural life. In this context, Atatürk's cars, just like him, have witnessed history and have been among the important symbols that shed light on the history of the Republic.

1936 Cadillac 80 Serisi: Atatürk’ün Özel Makam Aracı

The 1936 Cadillac 80 series is a rare car specially produced for Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and presented to him by Türkiye İş Bankası. This unique car witnessed history as Atatürk's office car between 1936 and 1938. Representing the pinnacle of automotive technology at the time, Cadillac stands out with its powerful engine structure and is known as one of the most elite and prestigious cars of the time.

The car's front grille and wide fenders give it a distinctive look and feel. The Cadillac was used for some time after Atatürk's death and was entrusted to Anıtkabir in 1959.

More than just a means of transportation, this car serves as a symbol dedicated to the history of the Republic and the cherished memory of Atatürk. The Cadillac 80 series symbolizes the development and modernization process of the Republic of Turkey under the leadership of Atatürk.

Ataturk's Executive Cars: Lincoln K Series

Atatürk’ün Makam Arabaları: Lincoln K Serisi

It is known that Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk used two Lincoln K Series automobiles as his office cars. These special cars are 1934 models and served as Atatürk's official and ceremonial vehicles between 1935 and 1938. The Lincolns were the only Cabriolet versions of that period, with exceptional technical features: 3-speed manual transmission, 6.8 liter engine displacement and 150 HP.

Lincoln K Series cars continued to be used by the presidents of the Republic of Turkey as executive cars after Atatürk's death. In 1963, these special cars, which have witnessed our history, were transferred to Anıtkabir and presented to visitors in the Peace Tower section. Reflecting the automobile design approach of the period, these cars are still preserved today as a historical heritage.

Atatürk's First Car: Mercedes' Legendary Model

Atatürk’ün İlk Arabası: Mercedes’in Efsanevi Modeli

Among the cars used by Atatürk, the Mercedes Sindelfingen model has a special place. This model is one of the unique cars of its period, produced only between 1924 and 1929. Atatürk registered this car in his name in 1926. This is also one of the first cars Atatürk drove.

The Sindelfingen is a remarkable model in terms of performance and power, with a 4-cylinder engine capable of producing 100 PS. The design of the car, dominated by black and dark green colors, reflects the aesthetic and functionality of the period. Inside, the driver's seat is upholstered in black leather, while the rear seats are upholstered in fabric. It also has a total of six Peter Union tires, two of which are kept in the car as spares.

Atatürk's Unique Vehicle: Motorcycle with Historical Value

Atatürk’ün Eşsiz Taşıtı: Tarihi Değer Taşıyan Motosiklet

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's cars are not only stylish and comfortable but also include a motorcycle of great historical value. This special 1931 model motorcycle was a gift presented to Atatürk in 1934. The motorcycle is quite remarkable as it is one of the first motorcycle models built in the world.

Atatürk preferred this unique vehicle in order to mingle with the people and to be in closer contact with them. It was a way to further strengthen his leadership, his relationship with the people and to see their needs, wishes and expectations more clearly. This unique motorcycle is a reflection of Atatürk's sincere connection with the people and his humility as a leader, while also symbolizing his innovative thinking and vision.

Atatürk's Interest in Cars

History presents us many habits and preferences of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in detail. His preference for white shirts, his habit of drinking Turkish coffee on an empty stomach in the morning, his curiosity about history and his interest in Turkish Art Music are among the most prominent ones. However, historical sources do not provide us with much information about Atatürk's interest in cars. Not all of the cars owned by Atatürk were chosen by him, these valuable vehicles were presented to him as gifts.
