Fernando Alonso despairs of the season

Fernando Alonso is rather despondent about the rest of the 2021 season. The two-time Formula 1 champion has scored points in 8 of the last 9 races, excluding the Belgian Grand Prix, which did not start.
Alonso, who returned to Formula 1 this year with Alpine after a two-year break, has yet to reach the podium in the championship this year. The Spaniard, whose best finish this season was 4th in Hungary, has been on the podium since 2014.

Fernando Alonso said that he is aware that they are the fifth or sixth fastest team in the championship, "To be honest, if there is no chaotic race this season, my chances of reaching the podium are very difficult. If everything goes normally, I can only finish the race in 5th, 6th or 7th place. For the podium, luck is also important and I don't have this luck and I don't expect this luck in the remaining races. We need to think realistically and work on this."

On the other hand, the rivalry between him and his teammate Ocan is witnessing great excitement. After 16 races, there is a 7-7 equality between them. Emphasizing the importance of this situation for him, Fernando Alonso said, "Esteban Ocon was quite ahead at the beginning. At the beginning of the year, the gap between us widened, but somehow I managed to go head-to-head. It's important and useful for him too. Looking at the current situation, I would say the atmosphere is good. I can't ask for much more than that. We both have to work hard to help Alpine in the team standings. Looking at the remaining races, the race with Aston Martin and Alpha Tauri will go down to the wire. For this, we have to do our best in every race."
